Hadassah, The Women’s Zionist Organization of America
In 1912 Henrietta Szold founded Hadassah in New York City as an American Jewish volunteer women’s organization to help meet the health needs of the people of what was then the Palestine region of the Ottoman Empire. The organization’s goal was to promote the Zionist ideal through education, public health initiatives, and by training nurses for Palestine. The organization quickly grew, adding chapters throughout the United States and expanded their rolls by opening hospitals and teaching facilities throughout Palestine and present-day Israel. Hadassah in the past has championed many health concerns throughout the world and today continues to provide health education and services for the medical needs of all people. The first 5 photos below are of past Fair Lawn Hadassah functions and the last 2 photos are from the Northern N.J. Region of Hadassah. Please help us with additional I.D.'s.
