Yom HaZikaron-Yom HaAtzmaut
This year Yom HaZikaron (Israel’s Memorial Day) begins at sundown on Tuesday, April 13, and ends Wednesday evening, April 14. Yom Ha’atzmaut (Israel’s Independence Day) commences immediately on the same evening and ends on April 15. It is quite a contrast to pay somber tribute to Israel’s fallen military heroes who lost their lives in the struggle for independence on one day and then have jubilant celebrations for Israel’s Independence the next day. Most years there are gatherings and parades in honor of the fallen and Israel’s independence. This year, because of the pandemic, there may be only Zoom get- togethers. Below are selected photos of previous gatherings and functions honoring the State of Israel.
