Stein Family Collection

From the archived family collections, this week we are featuring the Stein Family. Hyman Stein and Priscilla (Lewin) Stein, parents of Sam, Max, Ethel, and Henrietta lived at 192 Vreeland Avenue, Paterson, NJ. Hyman was a Bergen County lawyer and an active member of the YM-YWHA. Priscilla was a member of several local Jewish community organizations.  Both Sam and Max served in the US Army during WWII, Sam served in Burma and Max in Europe. Henrietta, as a civilian, won an award from the Army Corps of Engineers for her contribution to “Suggestions for Victory.” Max was killed in action during the war in 1945 and received the Purple Heart.
