Who Am I? November 2024
I am a millennial who was born in Tinsel Town. My dad was a musician and an entertainment reporter. My mom taught at a community college and worked at an early-childhood agency. My older sister Lauren and I were always putting on shows for our parents before they divorced though I got my first official gig playing “Toto” at the Los Feliz J.C.C. I graduated from South Pasadena H.S. where I became president of the drama club. To earn some extra pocket money during my high school years I’d suit up as a clown, bring balloons and a boom box and entertain little kids at their birthday parties.
I caught the acting bug and attended a theater workshop at Barnsdall Junior Arts Center in Los Angeles. I later studied and received a B.A. in theater at California Institute of the Arts in Valencia and took a semester at the RSAMD in the U.K.
Many of you will know me from my TV and film work. I appeared in 36 episodes of a series that ran for 7 years on cable network AMC and took place at a fictional advertising agency in Manhattan. I played a woman in her mid-20’s with marital and fertility problems married to a philanderer. Concurrent with that show, I played an overachieving community college student on an NBC series.
I also had a major role in a short-lived series on Netflix playing an out of work struggling artist who has a shot at stardom being an amateur wrestler. I was disappointed when the series was cancelled due to Covid-19. That series received nominations for SAG awards and the Globes for Best Actress Television Series Musical or Comedy. The series won 3 Emmys. If any of you are wondering what my secret sauce is to psych myself up for auditions it is to listen to hard core rap songs.
I do have some N.J. bona fides. I’ve promoted the jewelry line of the person who designed my engagement ring in an old-time roller skating rink here in N.J. Also, reporters noted that I brought some sparkle to the 2019 MTV Video Music Awards held at the Prudential Center in Newark.
I’m quoted as saying, “If you’re a guy, you should get girls flowers all the time. They never get old and you never get enough. I’m never disappointed when I get flowers. I always thought that guys who don’t buy women flowers are such fools. All it takes is one. A little goes a long way with flowers.”
I’m pretty sure you know me by now. That’s me in the photo below.
(1a)Who Am I? (1b)What was the name of the character I played and what was the AMC series I appeared in that takes place in the Manhattan advertising world? (1c)What was the name of the character I played and what was the NBC series I starred in portraying a college student? (2a)What were my character’s name and the Netflix series I starred in as an amateur wrestler? (2b)What is my zodiac sign?(2c)If you recall, I completed a semester at the RSAMD in the U.K. What does that acronym stand for? (3a)How did I cheer up my roommate at CalArts when she had the blues? (3b)Who designed my engagement ring? Describe it. (4a)I credit my lead make-up artist and my hair stylist with creating my early 1960’s “look” for my role in the Manhattan ad agency AMC series. Their work embellished the show’s storyline because my physical appearance in the episodes seemed to indicate that I had had my hair set in rollers followed up with brushed out curls, lots of hair spray, pink lipstick and polish. What were the names of those two women who prepared my look? (4b)How did I meet my husband? (5a)In interviews I’ve listed at least 4 Italian restaurants I love in CA. Name 1 of them. (5b) I have millions of followers on both Instagram and Twitter. I use the same handle for both. What is it?
